B3 Postponed Until the Fall

Due to some unforeseen scheduling conflicts, we've been forced to postpone the Balcones Burner Bash to the Fall. We apologize for any confusion, but rest assured, we have made this decision so that we can bring you the best graffiti competition in Texas. We are still looking for sponsorship for the the event, if you are interested, please let us know. Keep checking the blog, as we plan on firming up a date soon.

As the Burner Bash nears we rely on social media to get the word out and bring people to the event. If you haven't already, please check out our event's Facebook page. Like it, leave a comment, commit to attend, and share it with your friends. We want to make this event bigger than last year, and we can only do it with your help.

Volunteers for B3

Interested in being a part of this year's Burner Bash? We need volunteers to help run the event. Jobs include runners for the artists, crowd control, t-shirt sales, recycling detail, etc. Volunteers will be assigned tasks according to the number of hours they are willing to commit. Minimum volunteer time is 3 hours. All volunteers will receive an official Balcones Burner Bash event staff t-shirt.

If you are interested, please contact our volunteer coordinator, Ben Jonson at bjonson@balconesresources.com. Let Ben know the hours you are willing to work, what type of role you would like to do, and your tshirt size. Ben will be in contact with you closer to the event once specific jobs are decided. Additionally if you are required to do community service hours for school, Ben can sign any forms that will prove your participation in this charity event. Please direct any questions about volunteering to Ben.

Sloke One is Back

Nate Nordstrom aka "Sloke One" was integral to the success of last year's Balcones Burner Bash. Nate has joined back up with the Balcones team to help throw this year's event. As we open the artist pool up to the entire state of Texas, Nate will be responsible for picking the best of the best talent to participate in the event. Check out Nate's story below.

Artists - Invitation Only

Sorry for the confusion, but the 2011 Balcones Burner Bash is going to be invitation only. We have opened up the battle to artists within the state of Texas, but at this point the competition is not set up for an open call. Once we become more established we do intend to accept portfolios for possible inclusion in the event. Should this ever become the case, you'll see it first here.

Don't be disappointed though because there are still other ways to be involved. Interested in volunteering your time or being a sponsor? Are you a vendor that would like the opportunity to distribute your product? This is a big event, and we can use all the help we can get. Please contact us and see how you or your company can get involved and help us raise awareness and money for a good cause.

Otherwise you can just come out and support the cause and see who will take away this year's prize money and champion title.

Balcones Burner Bash 2011 Date Picked!

Get excited because the 2011 Balcones Burner Bash is officially on the calendar for April 16, and we are already planning for the big event. Big is a great way to describe it because it is going to be bigger and better than 2010. All the details aren't worked out, but we hope to open the competition up to artists throughout Texas, raise more money for the Wildflower Center, and perhaps have some additional entertainment elements to be announced. The first Balcones Burner Bash was a huge success! We cannot thank everyone enough who gave their time, energy and money to the event. We have already started planning for next year.
